Delta Gamma

 

Delta Gamma was founded by Anna Boyd Ellington, Mary Comfort Leonard, and Eva Webb Dodd in 1873 in Oxford, Mississippi, at the Lewis School for Girls near the University of Mississippi. Delta Gamma is established on 140 college campuses through the US and Canada. Fraternity colors: Bronze Pink and Blue Fraternity Motto: “Do Good”. On February 28, 1922 31 girls were the first initiated in to the Alpha Xi Chapter. DG became the fifth national fraternity on the WVU campus. The anchor which is displaying on our front lawn was donated to the chapter by the United States Government.  The anchor came from the U.S.S. West Virginia.

Foundation: Service for SightVision...one of our most precious senses. Unexplainable to those without it; irreplaceable to those who have it. Protecting the gift of sight is one of Delta Gamma's highest priorities. Since 1936, Delta Gamma's philanthropic purpose has been to stop blindness before it starts. For men and women for whom blindness is a fact, the mission has been to impact the quality of their lives in a myriad of positive ways. Philanthropy events include:  Anchor Bowl:  Flag Football Anchor Ball: Softball
